With jobs like terraforming and general labor being designated to mechs, deployable repair shops are stationed around work sites. These stations are staffed by mech engineers and because mechs work nonstop, they often are open 24 hrs a day. Because terraforming sites often operate in low atmosphere environments, half the footprint of the stations are taken up by giant airlocks necessary to provide a workable environment for engineers to perform repairs.
New technology has made mechs more autonomous, able to work via a remote pilot or dependent on onboard AI. This, however, has come with its kinks as unmanned mechs are more prone to errors, miscalculations, and overheating.
